The promotion, known as the Open Advantage Campaign for EAServer, is designed to show enterprises considering EAServer that the server offers increased application performance at a reduced application infrastructure cost.
Thus, Open Advantage Campaign is aimed at enterprises using and evaluating competing application servers for current or future development projects. Qualified customers that opt to purchase EAServer are eligible for the discount.
"In addition to an enterprise-class application server that is half the regular price, customers who switch to EAServer are also benefiting from a product that is, on average, 250 percent faster than the application server from a leading competitor," said Billy Ho, senior vice president and general manager of Sybase's e-Business Division in a prepared statement.
Sybase's Performance and Testing Lab conducted 25 tests on EAServer and competing application server products using OpenSTA to simulate hundreds of thousands of virtual users. Nile.com, a bookstore application, was also used to simulate a real-world e-commerce site. Tests included logging a user on, creating a customer account, browsing through a catalog, searching, filling a shopping cart, and checking out. On average, EAServer performed 250 percent faster than other application servers throughout the tests.
In addition to the 50 percent discount available for EAServer, participants in the Open Advantage program are eligible to receive a 50 percent discount off of PowerBuilder 8.0 Object Architect, a 30 percent discount off of EAServer education classes, access to various whitepapers, and access to utilities designed to speed the development and deployment process for e-business applications.
