Omnicore Software announced the availability of its Java IDE CodeGuide 5.0 for Solaris, Linux, Mac OS X, and Windows.

The company says that CodeGuide 5.0 is the latest version of its next-generation Java IDE that's known for an advanced on-the-fly code analysis engine. CodeGuide is designed to analyze programs while typing, show errors instantly and offer powerful programming assistance. Also, it is not tied to any particular operating system or specific Java Development Kit, so developers have the freedom to choose their development platform

The company says that as in the past, the new version 5 comes with a high-performance source code analysis engine. And in addition to speed enhancements, the new version includes the following:

  • On-the-fly error checking of the whole project
  • Instant compilation
  • Full JavaServer Pages support
  • HotSwap debugging
  • Support for generic types

"Increasing developer productivity is our mission," remarked Hans H. Kratz, co-founder and joint-CEO, Omnicore Software. "The new on-the-fly compiler combined with HotSwap dynamic class replacement offers our customers unbeatable turnaround times."
