Macromedia Monday announced the availability of Macromedia ColdFusion MX for J2EE Application Servers.
ColdFusion MX for WebSphere, ColdFusion MX for the SunONE Application Server, and ColdFusion MX for JRun are available for immediate download from the Macromedia Online Store.
A fourth version, ColdFusion MX for BEA WebLogic Server, is expected to ship later this year.
The three products offer users the ability to run a Java application on top of a Java app server, thus eliminating the need to invest in another server component, Phil Costa, senior product manager for ColdFusion told ServerWatch.
As a result, with the release of ColdFusion MX for J2EE Application Servers enterprises can take advantage of ColdFusion's functionality without actually changing the server.
With this release, the ColdFusion MX family is made up of two product lines: 1) the ColdFusion MX Server (available in a Professional edition and an Enterprise edition) and 2) ColdFusion MX for J2EE Application Servers product line, which is the umbrella under which the optimized versions for JRun, WebSphere, and the SunONE Application Server fall.
The ColdFusion MX Server has been available since late May.
All of the offerings in the ColdFusion MX for J2EE Application Servers product line are priced at $3,399 per processor. Education, government, and volume licensing is available.
A trial download of Macromedia ColdFusion MX for JRun is available at http://www.macromedia.com/go/cfmx/.
