Context Media announced the release of Interchange Suite 3.0, the company's enterprise content management software solution.
According to Context Media, Interchange Suite enables enterprises, for the first time, to organize, manage, and distribute content across and outside the enterprise by integrating disparate and distributed installed content management systems.
The vendor boasts that Interchange Suite delivers solid ROI without replacing existing systems, disrupting established workflows, or requiring content objects be moved or replicated into a separate centralized repository. Context Media explains that this is one way to give customers the distributed content management and access benefits they want without the headache and expense of standardizing on one vendor's platform or discarding homegrown systems.
The company says that Interchange Suite 3.0's approach allows distributed and disparate digital asset and content repositories to remain distributed, while giving users a single, unified way to access the content these repositories contain. The suite consists of three software applications, each a distinct grouping of open standards and XML-based Web services. The Web services suite for each application is based on open standards interfaces that facilitate integration into enterprise environments. Interchange Suite components can work together or on their own to achieve an organization's specific content management objectives.
Web services-based applications include:
- Interchange Content Server is the core Web services suite that categorizes, manages and powers access to enterprise content. It includes library services for organizing content; universal search services to accelerate content discovery; and content relationship management services, which help associate separate but related content objects for easier discovery and use. All services and features are enabled in a Web services environment interoperable with Sun One and Microsoft.Net initiatives.
- Interchange Integration Console discovers content stored in various distributed and disparate sources, document and digital asset management systems across the enterprise. It then creates a unified view of the content to be easily accessed by users. This Web services suite includes categorization and taxonomy services to help structure the content so it can be more easily leveraged across the organization. The Interchange Integration Console interfaces with other key components of the Interchange Suite as well as a variety of third-party systems via SOAP and XML-based Web services.
- Interchange Distribution Console provides services that enable enterprises to deliver content across the enterprise and to external parties (e.g., channel partners, customers and distributors). It includes the capability to control, audit, and measure content use based on the roles and rights of individual external parties and the specific business goals of the organization. Integration services also provide interfaces to third-party reporting engines and content delivery networks, such as Akamai.
Interchange Suite ships with operating system support for Sun Solaris, Linux and Microsoft Windows 2000; application server support for BEA WebLogic, iPlanet App Server, JBoss, Oracle 9iAS, and IBM WebSphere; and database support for ODBC- and JDBC-compliant databases.
