BiTMICRO Networks, a supplier of solid state flash disk drive storage devices and storage management solutions, just unveiled its new 1 Gbit dual-port Fibre Channel component -- the E-Disk 3F1 flash-based solid state disk.
According to the company, the world's first 3.5-inch E-Disk 3F1 is a new class of all-electronic Fibre Channel flash disk storage solution with no moving parts designed for systems that require high reliability and performance. It is designed for data recording and critical mission applications in homeland security, military, aerospace, industrial, telecommunication, and factory automation demanding 24x7 data availability under all conditions.
E-Disk 3F1 flash disk is designed to offer value for a fast, scalable and high availability storage solution. It provides I/O rates of up to 9,500 IOPS (Input/Output per second), a sustained Read and Write data throughput of up to 34 MB/sec, a burst data transfer rate of 200 MB/sec in an arbitrated loop and 48 microseconds access time.
The 1 Gbit E-Disk 3F1 dual-ported flash disk incorporates an industry standard Fibre Channel Single Connection Attachment 40-pin (FC-SCA-40) connector and internal logic compliance with FC-AL-2 and FC-PH topology and architecture specifications plus the Fibre Channel Protocol (FCP) for SCSI specifications and FC Private Loop Director Attach (FC-PLDA) technical report.
BiTMICRO's E-Disk 3F1 requires no batteries for non-volatility and provides almost instant response by virtually eliminating seek-time and latency. This flash disk should withstand operating temperatures from -40 degrees to +85 degrees centigrade, 1,000 Gs of operating shock, and 120,000 feet operating altitude. It comes with capacity ranging from 512 MB to 77 GB of pure solid state storage. It is hot swappable and reliable with more than 2 million hours MTBF.
The E-Disk 3F1 is designed to be fully compatible with Solaris, Linux, Windows, MacOS, and LynxOS. Other operating systems supported include AIX, FreeBSD, HP-UX, IRIX, NetBSD, OS/2, QNX, VxWorks, SCO Unixware, and OpenServer, Solaris X86 and Tru64. It should be a drop-in replacement for any standard 3.5-inch Fibre Channel hard disk or solid-state disk drive. The E-Disk solid state drive solutions are also offered in 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch with SCSI or IDE/ATA interface.
